What are the trading hours of the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq?
Monday to Friday, from 9:30 to 16:00 New York time (14:30 to 21:00 UK time for most of the year), except on exchange holidays. There is no regular trading outside these hours.
What time does the London Stock Exchange open?
At 8:00 UK time, and it closes at 16:30, Monday to Friday, except on exchange holidays.
What does “early close” mean?
That the exchange closes earlier than usual, for example on Christmas Eve or, in the US, on the day after Thanksgiving.
Can I place orders when the exchange is closed?
With most brokers, yes, but the order is only carried out when the market next opens. A market order may then go through at a very different price, so use a limit order instead.
