Dividend aristocrats: stocks with 10+ years of dividend growth

Companies that have raised their dividend every year for at least ten years. A long record shows the business could pay more even in bad years, though it does not guarantee future raises.

How to read the results

Three metrics that show up in almost every screener, and what they actually tell you.

P/E: what you pay for earnings

How many years of current annual earnings the share price buys. A P/E of 15 means 15 years of today’s profit. It only makes sense within a sector: banks usually trade on low P/Es, tech on high ones.

Dividend yield

A year of dividends divided by the share price. A very high yield sometimes comes from a falling price, which is why the share of earnings paid out matters too.

ROE: what the equity earns

Annual profit divided by shareholders’ equity. Above 15% is considered good, but a high ROE built on heavy debt is more fragile, so check Debt/EBITDA as well.
