High dividend stocks with a sustainable payout
A dividend yield above 4%, paid out of no more than three quarters of earnings. The second rule removes companies paying out more than they earn, where the dividend is most at risk of a cut.
Similarity is measured on the company's seven-factor profile: value, quality, momentum, volatility, yield, growth and size. The sector does not matter.

How to read the results
Three metrics that show up in almost every screener, and what they actually tell you.
P/E: what you pay for earnings
How many years of current annual earnings the share price buys. A P/E of 15 means 15 years of today’s profit. It only makes sense within a sector: banks usually trade on low P/Es, tech on high ones.
Dividend yield
A year of dividends divided by the share price. A very high yield sometimes comes from a falling price, which is why the share of earnings paid out matters too.
ROE: what the equity earns
Annual profit divided by shareholders’ equity. Above 15% is considered good, but a high ROE built on heavy debt is more fragile, so check Debt/EBITDA as well.
